How to check your IP address on different devices

An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique identifier for a device on the network. Knowing how to find your IP address is important in troubleshooting network problems, setting up network devices, and maintaining network security. This article will detail how to check your IP address on different devices, including Windows computers, Mac computers, smartphones (Android and iOS), and routers.

1. Check IP address on Windows computer

Check IP address through settings:

Open the "Start" menu and click "Settings".

Select "Network and Internet".

Select "Status" in the left menu, and then click "View network properties".

On the "Network Properties" page, you can find the IPv4 address, which is your IP address.

Check IP address through command prompt:

Press Windows key + R to open the "Run" dialog box.

Type "cmd" and press Enter to open the command prompt.

In the command prompt window, type "ipconfig" and press Enter.

Find "IPv4 address" in the displayed information, which is your IP address.

2. Check the IP address on a Mac computer

Check the IP address through System Preferences:

3. Check the IP address on an Android device

Check the IP address through Settings:

4. View IP address on iOS device

View IP address through settings:

Open the "Settings" app.

Tap "WiFi".

If you need to find the IP address of the router (usually called the "public IP address"), you can do so by:
